Welcome to Makeup Amusement Park!!!Â

My Cruelty-free evolution
I started using cruelty-free products in early 2012 when I discovered that animal testing was common practice among cosmetics companies. I was horrified because I had just assumed it was a thing of the past.  After seeing a tweet from a beauty blogger about the “LD-50 Kill Test” I did some more research and was appalled and heartbroken to learn about what Cosmetics companies are doing to animals in their testing labs.  I decided to start phasing out my makeup products that were not “cruelty-free” in around February/March of 2012, which was about a month or so after I started my blog. I realize everyone has different views on this topic and rightfully so, for me personally it’s not acceptable and while it may be a little more inconvenient I’d rather take the time and do a little research on a brand or product before buying to ensure I don’t give my money to companies that harm animals.Â
What Cruelty-free means to me
To me cruelty free means that the product is not tested at any point during production or as a finished product by the company, a parent company, or a third-party affiliate of the company. It also means that none of the ingredients have been tested on animals at any point by the company, a parent company or a third-party. When in doubt, I always refer to the LeapingBunny.org and/or  PETA Caring Consumer webpage. If they are not on either list I contact the company myself.  Please keep in mind companies are continually changing their animal testing policies so I may have reviews posted on companies that were once considered to be cruelty-free and have now decided to sell into main land China where animal testing is required (Revlon, Benefit, Smashbox, MAC, Almay, Makeup Forever, etc.), but I’ve attempted to remove or update those posts. I try keep my cruelty-free lists up to date as well as my “Favorite Products” page and include the date of my last update on each page.Â
Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoy your visit and come back again. I welcome your feedback and product suggestions!
Cheers,

Hi! I’m an Italian blogger and I’m into cruelty free problem as you.
I agree with everything you said in this post. Since I’m doing a series of posts about all the problems regarding cruelty free and such, I’m really happy I found your blog. If it does not bother you, I’d like to link your cruelty free list in my posts.
Thank you for all your beautiful work, and have a nice day!
Christie, thank you for the feedback, I really appreciate it!
I’m so glad it was helpful to you!
Thanks so much for making this page! There are so many products out there, and some of them make confusing claims. Now I should be able to make better choices.
Hi Suz, Thank you for reading and for getting in touch!!! A product that is manufactured in China does not require testing unless it is sold there. For instance Wet n Wild (Owned by Markwins) is manufactured in China but because it isn’t distributed/sold there, animal testing is not required. The People’s Republic of China requires all cosmetic products sold in mainland China to be tested on animals.
I’m a bit confused with the animal testing in China. If a product is manufactured there it DOESN’T need to be tested on animals, yet if it is sold there it does? If they test on products sold there, why is it that they don’t when they make them there?
Thank u for the email, ur blog is awesome and truly deserving of more attention!
